Senior Champs
On what seemed to be the most oppressive days in July our seniors took to the course on July 21-22 to determine the Senior Championships. Round 1 saw many of the men shoot below their handicaps leading to a close match on Day 2.
Winners for the men were:
60-69: V. Stype 70, 74  Gross 144

IE Men will host their MEMBER GUEST on August 5th.Please sign up in groups of 2 or 4. Each member may have 1 or 3 guests.

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS take place on August 7th, 8th and 14th. Show your support by signing up and playing in your flight.

Come and watch our Juniors play their Championship round on August 19th.

Ladies go to Olde Vine for an Invitational on August 19th.

The last Sunday in August, the 29th, will feature the HUSBAND/ WIFE CHAMPIONSHIP.  Come out for the Divorce Open and have lots of laughs.

WGA HARVEST September 21 rain date September 22. Mardi Gras theme.

AWARDS CEREMONY takes place on September 26th.

A Word from Your Professionals:

With a busy tournament schedule underway I thought it might be appropriate to discuss a common rules question. When a ball lay at rest on a cart path I have seen some real interesting interpretations of what to do. Some common questions are: Do I get relief? Where do I drop? How many club lengths do I get? You do indeed get relief with no penalty. You must find the nearest point away from the path no closer to the hole. Once the nearest point is established you can drop within one club length. And don’t forget to count your clubs before you tee off during the club championship! 14 club maximum.

Ladies’ Member Guest

The Ladies’ Member Guest held on July 29th saw 48 members and their guests enjoy a fun filled day of food and golf.  Even though the temperature continued to add to our record hottest July, all enjoyed the games, fine food and friendships old and new. Closest to the pin winners were P. Norden, H. Joseph, S. Jacobs,  and J. Kaytis. Closest to the line,  D. Schiller and P. Sponheimer. Low gross went to S. Jacobs, E. Savino, J. DiNoto, and S. Gannon. 1st Low net to J. Walsh, J. Dunbar, J. Healy and H. Halloran. 2nd low net to G. Woessner, B. Boner, I. Shields and K. Smith.
